Communique for Gold, Titanium and Business Card Holders

21 March 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

Kindly find the essential travel insurance coverage conditions amidst the rise of Corona Virus (Covid-19).

If a cardholder travels to a country which is officially free from any coronavirus cases but still gets infected, then the client will be covered for medical expenses.

However, if a client is willing to travel to an infected country, it will be at his own risk, in which case all Medical claim / assistance costs related to the treatment of the Coronavirus will not be covered under the policy.

For Cardholders:

INSURANCE CONDITIONS RELATING TO HEALTH

No journey will be covered if:

At any time:

You are aware of any circumstances that could reasonably be expected to give rise to a claim on this policy.

GENERAL EXCLUSIONS

Your travel to a country or specific area or event to which the government agency in the Country of Residence or the World Health Organisation has advised the public not to travel, or which are officially under embargo by the United Nations.

Curtailment of Trip

Your travel to a country or specific area or event to which a government agency in the Country of Residence or the World Health Organisation has not advised the public not to travel:

If client is infected, he will be placed in quarantine and will need to extend his stay. So, in terms of changes on air tickets, he is entitled for refund for any penalty fees on the air ticket or new ticket if same is non-modifiable, he will also be eligible for refund for any unused accommodations, such as hotels and excursions.

Cancellation of Trip

If client decides to cancel his trip to a country where a government agency in the Country of Residence or the World Health Organisation has not advised the public not to travel, he will not be covered for cancellation of the trip.

If the country which the client needs to travel to is banned, meaning airlines will not be flying there, then it is the airline who has the responsibility to refund the customer.

Summary:

  1. The cardholder is entitled for coverage if he maintains his trip to a country where there are no restrictions by W.H.O. or Government and there is no infection. On the other hand, if a client decides to travel despite the restrictions imposed by W.H.O. and Government from the country of residence, he will not be covered.
  2. Cutting short your trip, if he is quarantined due to the coronavirus or the Mauritian government and/or the W.H.O have advised not to travel or limited to essential travel to that country then he will be entitled for refund for any penalty fees on the air ticket to return to his country of residence and will also be eligible for refund for any unused accommodations, such as hotels and excursions.
  3. If the government of a country decides to close down their airport and access to their country, restricting airline companies from flying in such countries, then it is the airline who has the responsibility to refund the customer.
