Social inclusion (continued) Community Project: Emergency food aid during Cyclone Belal Background: In April 2024, flash floods caused by Cyclone Belal deeply affected the Canal Dayot and Sable Noir regions, leaving many families without basic necessities. The affected households faced urgent needs for food and essential supplies. Our response: Working alongside the local Force Vive groups, we distributed boxes of essential food items to families in need. This initiative aimed to provide immediate relief, ensuring that vulnerable households could recover from the crisis with dignity and security. Households 30 Lives impacted Project: Supporting education at Oasis De Paix, Pointe aux Sables Background: Founded in 2006, Oasis De Paix is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable children, particularly school dropouts, in Pointe aux Sables. The NGO provides structured educational programmes to help these children develop the skills they need to become responsible citizens. In 2024, the NGO faced funding gaps and resource shortages for its students. Our response: We stepped in to cover the NGO’s operational shortfalls for the year and provided shoes for the students. These contributions aimed to sustain the NGO’s vital work and improve the students’ access to education. Students 90 Lives impacted Project: Housing support in Cité Coeur Immaculé de Marie (CIM), Rivière Du Rempart Background: Severe flooding in February 2016 devastated the Cité CIM community, leaving families in precarious living conditions and with limited resources. Our response: We built and renovated 30 homes for vulnerable families, aiming to enhance their living conditions and quality of life. A well-built, secure home enhances the quality of life for families in vulnerable conditions, helps break the cycle of poverty through affordable housing solutions, and provides a solid foundation for families to focus on life skills, employment, and the education of their children.
