CFSL Integrated Report 2023

Diversity,Equity, andInclusion (DEI) for a sustainable future In an increasingly globalised world, and in a multicultural country like Mauritius, organisations have an imperative to adequately represent individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, genders, ages, abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds. This representation is fundamental in fostering a just and balanced society. In recent years, this call for DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) has become an integral part of CFSL’s culture. Strongly endorsed by our Executive team, our DEI journey is embedded in our mission to help people uplift their lives and build better futures, and aims to improve the standard of living of both staff and our customers, whilst treating everyone with dignity and respect. By starting this journey within our walls, with our own people, we aim to set the wheels of positive change in motion at Cim first, before extending our positive impact beyond our corporate boundaries. Our Human Capital initiatives are rooted in putting people first and promoting a culture of inclusivity, ensuring that every member of our staff, regardless of their background, is given equal opportunities for career advancement. Our commitment to DEI is reflected in our fair treatment and empowerment of all individuals to express their most authentic selves every day. Key programmes such as our Health Awareness Campaign initiatives, WeCare Platform, Women Agility Talk, Culture Reinforcement Programme, Engagement Survey and celebration of different cultures, have been designed to cultivate a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. In line with this endeavour and our philosophy of continuous improvement, our human capital policies undergo annual reviews, ensuring they evolve to bring favourable and relevant changes that nurture an all-inclusive culture and offer sustainable career paths at all levels of the organisation. Similarly, we believe that diversity should not only be embraced, but also celebrated as a cornerstone of our identity. We shine a light on the richness and uniqueness of the various ethnic groups through thematic cultural programmes, embarking everyone on a journey of cross-cultural appreciation and understanding. For instance, during the Chinese New Year celebration in January 2023, we organised a qi-gong session, led by an experienced practitioner, to pay homage to the Chinese community’s cultural heritage, while also promoting a holistic approach to wellbeing. A large group of CFSL employees enthusiastically partook in the Qi-gong session. Balancing DEI with business success We recognise that DEI is a pivotal pillar for successfully executing our business strategy. In the financial services industry, the future will be dominated by the interplay between people, the environment, and technology. With this in mind, we approach DEI like any other business priority, where progress is monitored by closely listening to the voice INTERN TESTIMONY Dhanishta Sookoorree Finance Trainee Yasmine Ameraly Raaidah Finance Trainee Kaishwaria Balgobin Intern - Marketing My internship at Cim Finance has been an extremely enriching journey.
