CFSL Integrated Report 2023

Pillar 1 Housing projects in Cité CIM, Rivière Du Rempart Promoting local talents Beneficiaries Panchavati Housing Project in Rivière Du Rempart 25 families at Cité CIM It is our core belief that decent housing and living conditions are a basic human need that can positively transform the life and future of a family. Besides instilling a sense of dignity and security, they also enhance health outcomes, reducing the spread of diseases and providing shelter; they influence educational outcomes, leading to improved academic performance and future opportunities; and above all, they address the root causes of poverty, contributing to breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Cim Finance has been engaging closely with the inhabitants of Cité CIM since 2015, offering food donations and ad hoc support when they needed it. In the aftermath of the devastating floods that struck Cité CIM in 2016, several families were abruptly rendered homeless, almost overnight, jeopardising their immediate wellbeing, and threatening their long-term livelihoods and futures. Having nurtured a close relationship with the community members, we made it our responsibility to rebuild Cité CIM. Our goal? To offer stable housing that is less vulnerable to disasters, and that allows these families to focus on their personal and professional development. Fast forward to today, seven years later, MUR 21 million has been invested into building and renovating 25 homes. And this marks only the beginning of our ardent commitment to uplift lives at Cité CIM. At Cim Finance, we strongly advocate for arts and culture as a pathway to the holistic wellbeing and development of communities. Under this pillar, we continue to lend our support to initiatives that promote our local talents and showcase their creativity. Several events were sponsored to this end, including, amongst others: Gaata Rahe Mera Dil, Cassiya Roots, Humour 2023% morisien, Nando’s Royal Life Saving Society Open Water Swim, Festival du Livre de Trou d’Eau Douce, Collection Maurice and two classical music contests (Rameau à Ravel and Vivaldi à Puccini). On 07 March 2023, Cyclone Freddy became the longest-lived tropical cyclone ever recorded and became officially, at the time, Earth’s most energetic storm on record. The storm travelled from Australia across the southern Indian Ocean, striking Mozambique, Malawi, Madagascar, Reunion Island and Mauritius. Destructive winds and extreme rainfall generated severe floods, uprooted trees, swept away homes and displaced thousands of people. In Panchavati Village, in the North of Mauritius, the inhabitants of the village called upon us to help rebuild a house that was burned down during the cyclone. has been invested into building & renovating 25 homes over 7 years MUR 21 million Corporate Social Responsibility Continued 50 CIM FINANCE ANNUAL REPORT
